When you use Kennisly Tutor, we may store your tutor sessions, messages, and assistant responses. Recent conversation history may be included as context when generating new tutor responses.
3.5 Support, Bug Reports, and Feature Requests
If you submit support requests, bug reports, or feature requests, we may collect information such as your description, category, priority, contact email, page URL, route, course or material context, screenshots, timestamps, and related diagnostic information.
Bug-report screenshots may contain visible page content, including uploaded file names, generated study content, course names, account information, or other information visible on your screen.
3.6 Technical and Usage Information
When using Kennisly, certain technical and usage information may be collected automatically, including:

- Browser type

- Language settings
- Pages visited and features used

3.7 Billing Information
Payments are processed by Paddle as our payment processor. Kennisly does not store full payment card details. We may store subscription status, plan information, billing cycle information, payment-related identifiers, and transaction metadata needed to manage subscriptions and comply with legal obligations.

- Authenticate users and maintain secure sessions
- Provide platform functionality
- Process Course Materials
- Extract text, structure, visuals, and learning context from Course Materials
- Transcribe supported audio and video files
- Generate notes, summaries, flashcards, quizzes, practice exams, podcasts, and tutor responses
- Create embeddings and retrieval indexes to power search, tutoring, and context retrieval
- Store generated learning content and study progress
- Manage subscriptions, usage limits, billing status, and payment-related records
- Provide support and respond to bug reports or feature requests
- Monitor platform performance and reliability
- Detect misuse, abuse, security issues, or fraudulent activity

Legal Bases for Processing

AI Processing
Kennisly uses artificial intelligence technologies to process Course Materials and generate learning outputs.
By uploading Course Materials or submitting prompts, users instruct Kennisly to analyze, process, transform, and generate educational outputs from those materials.
AI processing may involve sending relevant Course Materials, prompts, extracted content, generated notes, tutor messages, or podcast scripts to third-party AI and processing providers where necessary to provide the requested functionality.
Such outputs may include:
- Study notes
- Summaries
- Flashcards
- Quizzes
- Practice exams
- AI-generated podcasts
- Tutor responses
- Learning recommendations
AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, or incorrect interpretations.
Users are responsible for reviewing and verifying generated content before relying upon it for educational, academic, professional, medical, legal, or other important purposes.
Kennisly does not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, error-free, or suitable for any specific purpose.
Kennisly does not sell user Course Materials.
Service Providers
To operate Kennisly, we use trusted third-party service providers. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to Kennisly or to users.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS), including storage, databases, hosting, queues, and infrastructure services
- Amazon Cognito or AWS authentication services for account authentication
- OpenAI for AI generation, tutoring, extraction, embeddings, and related AI processing
- AssemblyAI for supported audio and video transcription
- Cartesia for text-to-speech and podcast audio generation
- Paddle for payment processing, subscriptions, billing records, taxes, and related payment workflows
- Google Analytics, if enabled, for product analytics and usage measurement
- Customer support, monitoring, analytics, and infrastructure providers where needed to operate and secure the service
Availability, accuracy, and performance of Kennisly may depend on these providers.
Support Access to User Content
Course Materials and generated learning content are private by default.
Kennisly staff do not review user Course Materials or generated learning content by default.
If a user reports an issue, Kennisly may request explicit permission from the user to inspect relevant Course Materials, generated content, tutor messages, podcast outputs, screenshots, logs, and processing metadata for support, debugging, or troubleshooting purposes.
If permission is granted, access will be limited to the information reasonably needed to investigate the issue.
User Content and Ownership
Users retain ownership of the Course Materials they upload to Kennisly.
By uploading Course Materials, users grant Kennisly a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:
- Store uploaded materials
- Process uploaded materials
- Analyze uploaded materials
- Generate educational outputs
- Create and store embeddings or retrieval indexes
- Maintain backups
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve Kennisly services
This license is limited to providing, operating, maintaining, securing, and improving Kennisly services.
Kennisly does not claim ownership of user-uploaded Course Materials.
Copyright and Uploaded Materials
Users are responsible for ensuring they have all necessary rights, permissions, licenses, and authorizations to upload Course Materials.
Users must not upload content that:
- Infringes copyrights
- Violates intellectual property rights
- Violates privacy rights
- Contains unlawful material
- Contains malicious software or harmful code
- Violates applicable laws or regulations
Kennisly is not responsible for user-uploaded content.
Children and Younger Users
Kennisly is not intended for children under 13 years old.
Users aged 13 to 15 may use Kennisly only with parent or guardian permission where required by applicable law.
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising the use of Kennisly by minors under their care.
If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, we may delete the account and related information.
Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain accounts, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
- Account and profile information is generally retained while the account remains active
- Course Materials and generated learning content are retained while needed to provide the service or until deleted by the user where deletion is available
- Tutor messages, study progress, quiz answers, podcast transcripts, and generated podcast audio may be retained while the account or related material remains active
- Bug reports, feature requests, screenshots, and support communications may be retained as needed for support, debugging, product improvement, and record keeping
- Billing and transaction records may be retained as required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance
- Security logs, usage logs, processing logs, and diagnostic records may be retained as needed for reliability, security, fraud prevention, and troubleshooting
Users may delete Course Materials through available platform functionality.
Following deletion requests, residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, archives, logs, or disaster recovery systems for a limited period.
International Data Transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the Netherlands or the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States or other countries.
Where required by law, Kennisly will implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
